Datapoint acquires Touchbase’s European operation
Today (2nd March 2007), Datapoint acquired certain subsidiaries from Touchbase Group which make up Touchbase’s European Avaya business (apart from the activities carried on by the Touchbase Avaya business in Germany), allowing Touchbase to consolidate and grow its global Cisco business.
Vim Vithaldas, Group CEO of Datapoint commented on the deal:
“It has always been part of our strategy to combine organic growth with selective acquisitions. As the complexity of enterprise communications continues, it is important our clients can partner with large scale systems integrators. The new Datapoint achieves this by becoming one of the largest integrators across Europe and the premier pan-European AVAYA reseller”.
“I am delighted to welcome Touchbase’s clients and employees to Datapoint. I believe the combined organisations are truly greater than the sum of their parts. This is extremely good news for our clients, partners and employees. ”
“Our portfolio of solutions now links contact centre operations with next generation enterprise solutions. Our clients will now be able to benefit from a single integrated roadmap and consistent, high quality, delivery and support services across the European region. Datapoint is now unique in that we can provide such a comprehensive service to our clients across the region.”
Riordan Maynard, CEO of Touchbase commented on the deal:
‘Having had numerous approaches over the years from companies interested in Touchbase, our discussions with Datapoint were extremely refreshing and exciting. From day one of looking at the viability of a transaction it was clear that the match was exceptional. The integrity, attitude and approach of the Datapoint team in looking at every aspect of the transaction from a client and people perspective, helped us make the decision to move ahead with the deal. We genuinely believe that these things, as well as the clear support for the deal from Avaya, mean it can only deliver more to the people and clients that have been so loyal to Touchbase over the years.
’‘Whilst it will be with great sadness that we say goodbye to some of our amazing people and exceptional clients, this is somewhat offset by the knowledge that they will be served brilliantly by the combined operations. Touchbase Group will continue to develop and build its Unified Communications business across the world, anchored by Cisco’s technology and this transaction will allow us to focus 100% of our time and energy on this.’
The acquisition does not include the activities carried on by the Touchbase Avaya business in Germany. Datapoint and Touchbase are currently in discussions with a view to Datapoint buying the activities carried on by the Touchbase Avaya business in Germany, subject to regulatory clearance.
