Marketing communications and market research company Aegis Group PLC announced this week that it had secured the acquisition of ICUC Moderation Services, a global leader in social media intelligence software.
The details of the deal have not been disclosed by the American company, which is hoping that the move will boost the performance of its iProspect platform, which is a leader in global digital performance media, by enhancing its social media offerings.
ICUC provided people-powered strategic direction to help brands to socially engage with clients. Big names which use the company include Starbucks, Intel and Chevron. The technology used by the company offers clients guidance and moderation of social media conversations, user-generated content and live events around the globe.
Jerry Buhlmann, chief executive of Aegis Group, said: "Beyond social media moderation ICUC brings nearly a decade of astute social media understanding and intelligence to verticals ranging from entertainment and media to CPG and retail, which fits in every respect with the next generation of social media services."
Social media has been a focus of many recent deals, as Facebook has made several acquisitions, and Twitter took over British company TweetDeck.
