Compuware Corp has acquired privately held DynaTrace Software for $256 million (£160 million) in a bid to boost its product portfolio.
Compuware, which makes technology-management software, is looking to further its presence in the application performance management software market with the deal, which was completed on July 1st.
Bob Paul, Compuware's chief executive, claimed that many IT firms require visibility into the performance of every transaction in order to succeed.
He said: "Together, Compuware and Dynatrace APM solutions allow IT to meet business demands for performance and agility through unbeatable insight into the user experience - whether in cloud, complex or traditional environments."
The acquisition is expected to add three cents a share to Compuware's fiscal 2012 profit and a minimum of four cents a share to its fiscal 2013 earnings.
Furthermore, Dynatrace will add between $35 million and $45 million to Compuware's fiscal 2012 revenue and approximately $100 million to its fiscal 2013 revenue.
