Computer giant Dell has acquired networking specialist Force 10 in a bid to offer its customers a complete data centre experience.
The firm has confirmed that it has purchased privately owned Force 10 for an undisclosed fee, with the transaction set be completed in late summer.
Force 10, which has more than 1,300 customers and generates around $200 million (£123.5 million) in annual revenue, develops a range of next-generation networking accessories and Dell expects the deal to allow it to offer all-in-one data centres featuring server, storage and networking technology.
"Today's data centre networks are too complex and require too much manual intervention," said Brad Anderson, senior vice president of enterprise solutions group at Dell.
"Dell's approach of offering customers open, capable and affordable solutions aligns with Force10's approach to offering customers new levels of flexibility, performance, scale and automation which is fundamental to changing the economics of data centre networking."
