Interoute Communications has acquired Quantix, a Nottingham-based cloud services provider.
The latter was considered to be one of the UK's leading enterprises in its sector in 2011 and Interoute believes the takeover will strengthen its operations.
It can now enhance its cloud-based unified ICT strategy by building on its current unified computing and managed hosting portfolio with the addition of managed application services.
Simon Goodenough, managing director at Quantix, explained the company will continue to serve its existing client base.
Chief executive officer at Interoute Gareth Williams said: "We are focused on service innovation combined with a constant drive for efficiency to bring value to customers and keep ahead of the market."
His firm will turn Quantix's Nottingham headquarters into a centre of excellent for the development of new technology and application management.
In July, Interoute announced it had joined the Cloud Security Alliance, which promotes best practice for safety among those operating in the sector.
