Bayside Capital, an affiliate of Akrion Systems, has announced the purchase of all the assets of Akrion Inc.
It has acquired the provider of surface preparation systems in a deal which includes a major investment and seeks to better position the firm for growth in the solar cleaning equipment and semiconductor markets.
Bayside said consumers are set to benefit from this takeover through enhanced service levels, expanded research and development and new product introductions.
Adam Schimel of Bayside Capital said: "Akrion Systems has a winning combination of proprietary technology, a global service team and deep customer relationships."
He added that as semiconductor device geometries shrink, the firm would benefit from the increasing importance of surface preparation, while helping the solar industry produce more efficient cells at a lower cost.
Bayside Capital has a number of companies in its portfolio, including cargo operator AirNet Systems and sunglasses designer Lantis Eyewear.
