Stockholders in international business process outsourcing (BPO) provider PeopleSupport have approved the company's proposed merger with Essar Services.
They voted in favour of a merger agreement last week by more than 75 per cent of the shares of outstanding common stock.
PeopleSupport, a US company with its headquarters in Los Angeles, California, has a substantial presence in the Philippines and Costa Rica and the merger with the Mauritius-based Essar looks likely to expand its global reach.
Essar is part of the Essar Group - one of India's fastest growing conglomerates - along with Aegis BPO.
Commenting on the deal, Aegis BPO's global chief executive and managing director Agarup Sengupta remarked: "This strategic combination creates a global outsourcing leader with capabilities across multiple geographies and domains."
"We look forward to the completion of this merger," he added.
It is thought that this will come sometime between now and October 31st 2008.
