Dennis Publishing has announced that it is acquiring bit-tech.net, a news and review website dedicated to the computing and gaming sectors.
The independent publisher currently owns technology websites and magazines such as PC Pro, itpro.co.uk, knowyourmobile.co.uk and iGizmo.
According to the company, the acquisition of bit-tech.net will help to increase visitor numbers to its portfolio of technology websites from 2.3 million to 3.35 million.
Currently, bit-tech.net has a unique visitor base of more than 1.05 million users a month as well as generating 6.6 million monthly page impressions.
No job losses will result from the acquisition as the whole editorial, advertising and development team will be hired by Dennis Publishing and will report to Barry Cronin, digital technology publishing director at the firm.
Hugh Chappell, managing director of Bit Publishing, commented: "Dennis Publishing enjoys considerable success in the technology sector and importantly they understand our market.
"This acquisition is a logical step for bit-tech.net and will ensure continued growth."
Dennis Publishing was established in 1974 and includes a number of organisations working in both the US and the UK. Group sales turnover is in excess of £85 million a year.
