Data archiving solutions provider Plasmon plc has been acquired by a new holding company backed by an American private equity firm.
Plasmon Holding has bought US-based subsidiary Plasmon Inc as well as certain UK-owned assets as part of the transaction.
The terms of the agreement stipulate that Plasmon Inc will become the global headquarters of the new organisation, which will continue to provide data archiving systems but across all worldwide territories.
In a statement, Plasmon Holding said that the new entity will focus on improving the core Archive Appliance product and take advantage of new partnerships with NetApp, IBM-FileNet and a number of content management independent software vendors.
"Plasmon has exceptional intellectual property and an unmatched value proposition with which to address the rapidly growing need for archiving as a core layer of the IT infrastructure," commented Steven Murphy, chief executive of the new company.
Among the solutions offered by Plasmon are enterprise content management, email archiving, compliance, technology refresh and storage optimisation products and services.
