Marketing communications group Aegis has announced its acquisition of Malaysian digital agency IF.
According to Robert Lerwill, chief executive officer at Aegis, the acquisition will boost Aegis' digital offering to its Malaysian clients and will work alongside existing digital services.
"Digital media expertise is gaining in importance in Malaysia, albeit from a small base," said Mr Lerwill.
He added: "And with GDP projected to grow by 5.8 per cent in 2008, there is significant potential for expansion in demand for digital services in the region."
Figures reported by Aegis indicate that digital spending in Malaysia is thought to be growing at a rate of 52 per cent.
Aegis provides a number of media services, including digital creative execution, web design, media planning, marketing analytics and brand tracking.
The firm, which is listed on the London Stock Exchange, employs 15,000 people worldwide and has offices in a total of 70 countries.
