The Office of Fair Trading (OFT) has cleared Northgate Information Solutions to complete its proposed acquisition of Anite Public Sector Holdings (PSH), it has been announced.
In a statement, the specialist software and IT services provider said the government agency had decided against calling the deal in for review by the competition commission, paving the way for the takeover to go ahead.
Shareholders in the parent company of Anite PSH, Anite plc, had previously approved the disposal of the subsidiary firm.
Northgate public services chief executive David Meaden said he was "delighted" with the decision and now expects the acquisition to be completed later in October.
He added that he was confident Northgate would be able to integrate Amite into its business, as the firm has completed 11 strategic acquisitions in the last five years.
"This deal expands our public services business and extends our commitment to support excellence in the public sector at a time when the economic challenges our clients face have never been greater," he said.
