Utah Scientific, a US manufacturer of digital and analogue routing and master control switchers, has completed the acquisition of European manufacturing firm Sander, the company has confirmed.

In a statement, Utah Scientific said the merger would give it access to Sander's established market for routing switchers, which includes many of Europe and Asia's top broadcasters and telecoms operators.

The company added that the product line of the new entity - which will be known as Utah Sander - will represent a "one-stop" shop for technology and media customers.

Utah Scientific chairman Carmelo Catalano said the two firms shared a history of "knowledge, competence, experience and single-minded focus".

"Beyond the synergy of their markets and product lines, the reputations the two companies enjoy make them a natural fit," he commented.

Utah Scientific, which is based in Salt Lake City, was founded in 1977 to supply routing switchers to the television industry.

It now produces a range of Routing Switchers, Router Control Systems and Master Control Switchers for both standard and high definition television.
