UK email and internet security firm Marshal is set to merge with 8e6, a US web filtering appliance and technology company.
According to Ed Macnair, chief executive officer of the British business, the deal will allow the two firms to offer joined up services to their clients.
The merger will also create the only independent software company capable of securing all internet-based communications, he stated.
Mr Macnair said: "Marshal8e6 has all the pieces in place to be the new leader in the secure web gateway market."
IT directors are looking for an integrated, easy-to-manage solution and this is what the new company hopes to offer, he added.
The move will leave the firm with a total of 250 employees, 20,000 customers and combined revenue $50 million (£33 million).
Recently, Swedish software firm Tbricks announced that it has secured 4 million (£3.2 million) in corporate finance which it will use to help expand its activities in the US and Europe.
