The soon-to-be spun-off manufacturing arm of AMD believes that the current economic downturn presents good opportunities for investment, it has been revealed.
Speaking to the EE Times, Gerd Teepe, director of the firm's Dresden Design Centre, explained that the crisis will not last forever and that the electronic industry could emerge from it even stronger than before.
He said: "The prospects for microelectronics remain excellent. After all, microelectronics is a crucial technology for many other industries."
Mr Teepe added that he expects the arm's soon-to-be owners to stick with the company for years, rather than quarters.
The Advanced Technology Investment Company revealed in August that is will be spending $2.1 billion (£1.37 billion) to purchase AMD's manufacturing arm.
Of this, it stated that $1.4 million will be put directly into the new entity, with the remained being paid to the parent business,
The new firm is to be called the Foundry Company.
