A takeover deal will allow a County Durham software firm to expand globally, according to its owners.

Software Express has been acquired by Dolphin Computer Access, which is based in Worcester but operates in 50 countries across the globe.

Both firms specialise in products for visually impaired people and the deal will see Software Express's Guide package launched in these new markets.

Speaking to the Newcastle Journal, former co-owner Mary McMahon, said: "We were approached in March when we were looking at different options to expand.

"Dolphin is a group of companies so it has a lot more resources and an international distribution network in 50 countries."

Financial details of the acquisition have not been disclosed.

Yesterday, it was revealed that the NCC Group has acquired Next Generation Security Software for a cash consideration of up to £10 million.

The purchasing firm specialises in escrow solutions, assurance testing and consultancy.ADNFCR-1833-ID-18902454-ADNFCR
