Paris-based simulation software firm ESI has acquired the rights Vdot, a package previously owned by US firm Procelerate Technologies.
The deal sees ESI obtain all rights to the development process management software for an undisclosed cash sum and a future performance related payment.
According to Alain de Rouvray, chairman and chief executive officer of ESI, the move is "of major strategic interest".
He said: "Vdot has proven its usefulness as part of projects to integrate digital simulation solutions for large industrial customers, particularly in the USA and China."
Combining the new package with its existing offerings will help ESI provide its customers with an even better service, he added.
Last week, the NCC Group acquired Manchester-based Next Generation Security Software for a cash sum of up to £10 million.
The deal will allow NCC, which currently offers escrow, assurance testing and consultancy services, to enter what it described as the fast-growing security sector.
