The Society of Information Technology Management (Socitm) has announced its merger with non-profit IT professional support organisation The Charity IT Resource Alliance (Citra), it has been reported.
All members of Citra will automatically be registered with Socitm under the merger from January 1st and will be entitled to the benefits available to all of the latter's members.
Public Technology reports this included professional development programmes, together with an extensive list of national and international events on offer.
Adrian Hancock, managing director of Socitm, told the site: "This merger responds directly to the growing need for collaboration between the Third Sector and local and national government.
He added: "It also comes at a time when the Society is transforming its ability to support professional development for its membership, not least in response to the government's IT Profession agenda."
Lenovo, one of the leading computer manufacturers in the world, recently confirmed that it was continuing to look for possible takeovers or acquisitions.
