Trapeze Networks has announced it has acquired Newbury Networks, according to reports.
According to the former firm, the deal with allow it to combine its existing network equipment and management systems, with the wireless networks provided by Newbury.
RCWireless reports the firms will operate as independent business units and no jobs will be affected by the takeover.
Newbury has a list of high-profile clients, including Apple and Hewlett Packard, and provides wireless local area networks (WLAN) to clients.
The WLAN market was forecast by analysts IDC to be a $1 billion (£650 million) industry by 2011.
Jim Vogt, president of Trapeze Networks, told the site: "We believe the combination of Newbury Networks and Trapeze Networks creates a formidable competitor and a comprehensive wireless network solution."
Telecoms provider eOn Communications recently announced it had acquired Cortelco Systems Holding in a $11 million (£7.2 million) deal.
