Alcatel-Lucent company Genesys Telecommunications Laboratories has announced the acquisition of Software Development Engineering GmbH (SDE).
SDE's core software is the web-based Genesys Customer Interaction Portal (GCIP), which enables service providers to deliver hosted contact centre capabilities.
The acquisition grants Genesys Telecommunications Laboratories intellectual property rights over GCIP and the firm will incorporate the SDE team.
Genesys has also announced the acquisition of Conseros, a provider of business applications.
Sheryl Kingstone, director of the Yankee Group's customer-centric strategies service, says "Contact centres are not just located in a single location today, and the technology needs to reflect that.
"Portals are a critical need and we are seeing the rise of software as a service because virtualisation and choice of deployment is becoming so important."
Genesys Telecommunications Laboratories is a specialist provider of contact centre software, which links businesses to customers.
Its headquarters are in California and it has approximately 1,500 employees worldwide.
