ARC International - which supplies original equipment manufacturers (OEMs) and semiconductor companies - has announced that Synochip Technologies has won a licence to build systems on chips (SoCs).
The Chinese-based firm's SoCs will provide enhanced security for ARC customer's PCs, flash drives, portable video players, information security and online payment systems .
Synochip is a provider of specialist information security, focusing on fingerprint recognition.
The license will see the firm utilise ARC's intellectual property to create a new generation of SoCs.
Bowin Qiu, co-founder and chief executive officer of Synochip Corp, explains what the licence can deliver for customers.
"First, with our chip in a portable device, the consumer can feel secure that his or her information cannot be compromised.
"Second, our OEM customers are assured they have a storage device that offers total security," Mr Qiu says.
ARC licences consumer electronics for a host of large IT firms, enabling multimedia experiences for the consumer, such as for PCs and laptops.
