Barracuda Networks has announced the acquisition of Yosemite Technologies for an undisclosed fee.
The US-based web and email security specialist gains, through the deal, the software portfolio of data recovery experts Yosemite.
Barracuda has now incorporated Yosemite backup technologies into its service - the firm says this offers security for Microsoft Exchange, Microsoft SQL and Microsoft Windows.
North American customers of Yosemite can access the Barracuda backup service at no additional charge.
Barracuda says the acquisition enables the firm to offer simplicity and affordability to its customers.
Dean Drako, president and chief executive officer of Barracuda Networks, explains: "Yosemite's rich history in delivering easy to use data backup and disaster recovery technology, combined with Barracuda Networks' expansive channel reach, will ensure that more companies worldwide benefit from comprehensive and affordable data protection solutions."
Mr Drako's firm serves a customer base of over 70,000 clients worldwide, including Coca-Cola , FedEx and Harvard University.
