IBM has won a multi-year contract with home appliances manufacturer Whirlpool to provide a range of IT services.
Under the deal, the computer technology firm will give support for the mainframe, server, storage and network systems at Whirlpool.
The contract also sees IBM provide desk-side support and help desk services.
For Whirlpool, it is hoped that the consultation and input from the computing firm will better align IT operations to changing business needs.
The financial terms of the contract were undisclosed and the services under the agreement are due to start later this year.
Commenting on the contract, Whirlpool chief information officer Kevin Summers says the deal supports the firm's "strategic road map".
"We expect these changes will allow Whirlpool Global Information Systems to more quickly flex to changing business conditions and improve the quality of service we provide to our businesses," he adds.
IBM recently signed a deal with the retailer Marks and Spencer to implement software to enhance cost and operations efficiencies.
