Vodafone has signed a partner market agreement with United Arab Emirates (UAE) company du - the first such partnership in the Middle East for the telecommunications giant.

As part of the strategic alliance, du will get exclusive access to Vodafone's range of products, services and devices, offering its clients greater roaming capacity across 67 countries.

In return Vodafone customers can utilise du's 3G network within the UAE, granting extended coverage.

In the future, it is hoped the two telecoms firms will offer additional products, such as converged email services, mobile broadband connectivity for PCs and remote mobile access for small businesses.

Reacting to the tie-up agreement, Hatem Dowidar, the chief executive officer of Vodafone partner markets, says through the partnership the firm will raise brand recognition in a growing market.

"Mobile usage in the UAE is growing steadily and more of our customers require enhanced roaming services to and from the region," he explains.

As of December 31st 2008, telecommunications giant Vodafone had a total market capitalisation of around £74billion.
