Ubisoft has announced the acquisition of the Vancouver-based video games developer Action Pants.
The deal marks the French gaming giant's first in-house development studio on the North American West Coast.
Action Pants employs over 110 games developers in Vancouver's Yaletown area - it was ranked among the region's top employers over the last year.
Co-founder and executive partner of Action Pants Simon Andrews said he was "excited" by the takeover, emphasising the similar values of the two firms.
Christine Burgess-Quemard, executive director of worldwide production studios at Ubisoft, commented: "The creative talent at Action Pants made the decision an easy one, and we are delighted to both establish ourselves in the region as well as welcome a fantastic group of experienced developers who can start exchanging with our other teams worldwide."
In another recent addition to the Ubisoft portfolio, the firm last month acquired Brazilian gaming company Southlogic Studios, the country's longest-standing independent video game developer.
