CDC Software - a subsidiary of CDC Corporation - has reached an agreement to acquire WKD Solutions, a provider of supply chain event management and business activity monitoring software.

The financial details covering the acquisition were not disclosed, but the completion of the deal is subject to certain standards provisos, including consent from the CDC board.

Surrey-based firm WKD solutions markets products under the Categoric Software brand.

If the deal does go through, CDC will acquire the full Categoric range, including real time alerting, process automation and corrective action tracking, which helps businesses with governance, risk and compliance requirements.

Peter Yip, the chief executive officer of CDC Software, said he is "excited" to be pursuing the deal.

"We believe now is the time to return to our prior 'focus, acquire and grow strategy' through mergers and acquisitions that help expand the breadth of our enterprise applications and fill the technology opportunities in our product roadmap," he adds.

CDC specialises in enterprise software for medium and large-sized firms, boasting a customer base of over 6,000.
