Check Point Software Technologies has acquired the Nokia security appliance business after a 12-year strategic partnership.
The acquiring company is looking to ensure continuity for both customers and partners after the deal and has announced it is planning to introduce a new line of all-inclusive IP appliances.
Businesses can now purchase former Nokia IP hardware running Check Point security software through Check Point.
Existing Nokia customer support contracts will be supported by Check Point with immediate effect, covering support for older platforms as well as OS versions.
Gil Shwed, chairman and chief executive officer at Check Point, said: "Through the acquisition, we'll be able to better meet customers' needs and preferences with the latest security software on the leading hardware platforms."
He added that Check Point is now the leader in the security appliance market with a range of security solutions that is "unprecedented".
Last month, the company revealed its ZoneAlarm Extreme Security was given the Editors' Choice Award from PC Magazine.
