Hitachi Consultancy, the global business and IT consulting subsidiary of Hitachi, has sealed the acquisition of Edenbrook.
Founded in 20001 and based in the UK, Edenbrook develops programmes to enhance efficiency in businesses and it has a rostrum of clients including Virgin Media, easyjet and Bupa.
In particular, the firm specialises in delivering services for Microsoft and Oracle.
Phil Parr, president and chief executive officer for Hitachi Consulting, described the acquisition as "the next critical step" in the businesses growth plan.
"Investing at this time, in a difficult economic environment, underlines our commitment to serving our consulting client base, placing us in a strong position in the consulting industry globally," he added.
Commenting on the takeover, David Kilpatrick, managing director of Edenbrook, said that joining Hitachi is an "important milestone" for the business.
In February, Hitcahi was appointed preferred bidder to supply new rolling stock for the Intercity Express Programme.
