Wireless access and healthcare tools provider WiSpots has merged with Worthington Healthcare Corporation (WHC), a company offering medical transcription and electronic medical records management software.
The new entity has been renamed WiFiciency and will serve as a holding company for the WiMedical, WiSpots, WiMedia, WiScription and WiSoft brands, which provide software and hardware solutions to healthcare facilities.
WiSpots has announced that it will continue to offer online access to patient information, entertainment and productivity solutions while people are waiting to see their doctors.
"The merger with WHC is another solid step in the evolution of the WiSpots model," commented WiSpots founder Kevin Flannery, who will serve as chairman and chief executive officer of WiFiciency.
In December 2008 WiSpots announced a joint venture with Cyglera Health Systems, a Canadian healthcare technology firm, through which the two aimed to provide patient-centric technology solutions for the medical waiting room to improve patient satisfaction.
