GigOptix, a semiconductor manufacturer specialising in electronic engines for the optically-connected digital world, has announced the acquisition of ChipX Incorporated.
The acquisition deal is expected to bring a solid revenue stream for GigOptix from more than 60 active customers in the markets of defence and aerospace, industrial, communications, medical and test and measurement.
Additionally, the deal brings a portfolio of intellectual property and complementary skills allowing GigOptix to develop new products, thereby expanding its offering to the optically-connected market.
"ChipX brings a loyal portfolio of tier one customers who use the first class design services and IP of ChipX to create their own truly differentiated custom products," commented Dr Avi Katz, chairman of the board of directors and chief executive officer of GigOptix.
Dr Katz recently announced that he will host a presentation at the LD MICRO Second Annual Investment Conference to be held in Los Angeles on December 3rd.
