Information technology research and analysis company Gartner has announced that it has agreed to acquire AMR Research, a research firm involved in a similar sphere, for approximately $64 million (£38 million).
The acquisition deal is expected to help Gartner to expand its suite of research offerings and complement its existing consulting and events operations, while it will also attain AMR Research's experienced sales team.
Gartner intends to finance the acquisition, which is expected to close later this month, through the use of cash on hand combined with borrowings under its existing line of credit.
"[AMR Research] is the market leader for research related to supply chain management, which is inextricably linked to IT and has become a central and growing issue for many organizations," commented Gene Hall, chief executive officer at Gartner.
Gartner has made a number of acquisitions and investments since it went public in 1993, including META Group, Aims Management Consultants and Randall and Associates.
