Cambridge-based Red Gate Software, the developer of simple tools used by IT professionals around the world, has completed the acquisition of HyperBac Technologies.
Under the terms of the deal, software produced by HyperBac will continue to be sold and supported through the company's website in the short term, while the HyperBac development team will collaborate with Red Gate in the long-term.
Simon Galbraith, joint chief executive officer of Red Gate, said that the two firms are similar for their innovation in creating compressed SQL server backups.
"The combination of HyperBac know-how and Red Gate's focus on producing relentlessly tested, ingeniously simple tools will enable us to create a wide range of database and system administration tools that solve the challenges our customers face," he added.
In September last year, Red Gate acquired {smartassembly}, a .NET development tool for software optimisation which improves deployment, intellectual property protection and performance.
