Web analytics firm Coremetrics is to join the IBM platform after the computing giant agreed the acquisition of the privately-listed Californian company for an undisclosed amount.
Coremetrics currently delivers web analytics capabilities to more than 2,100 global brands.
IBM has said the acquisition will allow it to offer improved business analytics solutions and highlighted the fact that Coremetric's software complements that of IBM's WebSphere.
Craig Hayman, WebSphere general manager, said: "With this acquisition, we are extending our capabilities to give clients greater insight about customer behaviour and sentiment about products and services and gives true foresight into their future buying patterns.
"The combination of IBM and Coremetrics will maximise marketing expenditures and also make the buying experience more convenient, personal and interactive for consumers."
IBM was recently ranked a leader in the Forrester Wave Disaster Recovery Service Providers report, which said that the firm offers uninterrupted operation across all levels of business.
