The merger of AsiaInfo with Chinese firm Linkage has been completed to form AsiaInfo-Linkage, it has been announced.

AsiaInfo, a leading provider of telecom software solutions and IT security products in China, said yesterday (July 1st) that it had closed the merger deal.

The deal, initially agreed in December 2009, sees Linkage shareholders receive $60 million (£39 million) in cash and around 27 million shares in the new company.

Linkage Technologies International Holdings, based in Nanjing, is a provider of software solutions and IT services for the telecommunications industry in China.

AsiaInfo's president and chief executive officer Steve Zhang commented, "For over ten years, both AsiaInfo and Linkage have evolved into influential market players in the telecom IT software and solutions vertical, developing best-of-class products and cultivating strong relationships with the three telecom carriers in China."

He added that as a result of the deal, AsiaInfo-Linkage will boast an expanded service offering, stronger research and development capacity and complementary customer bases for cross-selling opportunities.
