Aircraft manufacturer Boeing is to expand its cybersecurity business with the acquisition of software firm Narus.
Building upon an established strategic partnership, Boeing hopes the acquisition will be a step forward in its IT security offering.
"This acquisition is another step forward in our strategy to develop integrated solutions for better network visibility, threat detection, and cybersecurity," explained Roger Krone, president of Boeing Network & Space Systems.
California-based Narus employs around 150 people worldwide and is a provider of real-time network traffic and analytics software used to protect against cyber attacks, and persistent threats aimed at large internet protocol networks.
The terms of the deal have not yet been disclosed, but it is expected that the acquisition will be completed in the third quarter of 2010.
Narus chief executive Officer and president Greg Oslan described the deal as a great opportunity to expand its network traffic analytics and cybersecurity solutions to new markets with the support of Boeing.
The news follows Boeing's recent acquisition of software firm Argon ST in a $775 million (£511 million) deal.
