International software developer Oracle has acquired Passlogix - an enterprise software specialist the creates single sign-on products.
The two companies have worked on a number of joint ventures in the past - making the acquisition a natural step for Oracle.
Oracle identity management vice president Amit Jasuja said: "Driven by regulatory mandates, organisations are being pressured to provide stronger authentication mechanisms while reducing the number of passwords required.
"With the addition of Passlogix, we expect to provide a complete enterprise-scale identity management solution and be able to provide more global reach and support resources to customers."
Oracle has not posted any further details about the acquisition. However, the deal is expected to be concluded by the end of this year.
Recently, networking equipment manufacturer HP announced that it was set to pay $1.5 billion (£973 million) for security software specialist ArcSight as it continues to diversify its core products offering.
