US-based AFL Telecommunications has completed its acquisition of a majority share in fibre optic firm The Light Brigade.
The Fujikura subsidiary is hoping that the purchase will enable it to improve its technical training capacity, according to spokesman Patrick Dobbins, who claimed his firm wishes to "promote advanced integrated solutions for our customers".
AFL provides technology and services to numerous fibre optics-related markets, including broadband and wireless.
It did not reveal how much it paid for the control of The Light Brigade or how much of the South Carolina company it now owns.
In other mergers and acquisitions news related to the telecommunications industry Cardtrend International announced the completion of its SMS Biz takeover on Monday.
KK Ng, Cardtrend's chief executive, claimed the purchase of the Malaysian prepaid telecommunications service provider will boost revenue and profit for his company, while also increasing its knowledge and expertise within the prepaid sector.
