Google announced this week that it had successfully acquired Irish video company Green Parrot in a bid to boost its online video service YouTube.
The takeover, which was completed for an undisclosed sum, will see the video software company move its base from Dublin to California, Reuters reported.
Work by Green Parrot has been used in several Hollywood blockbuster films, including Superman, King Kong and Lord of the Rings.
The news provider said YouTube was hoping to improve the quality of its videos, which used to be well-known for being low grade and low quality.
Jeremy Doig, Google's director of video technology, said in a blog post: "Their technology helps make videos look better while at the same time using less bandwidth and improving playback speed."
Google is currently undergoing a wide-ranging expansion. According to the Wall Street Journal, the company acquired 48 companies last year, and it is aiming to boost that number this year.
