German firm Software AG is actively setting out on the acquisition trail, with the intention of securing a large deal later in the year.
The company told Reuters that it looked to acquire a large business every two to four years, and it was now aiming to take over a company for a price in the region of €480 million (£421 million), similar to an acquisition several years ago. The firm also looks to acquire a small-to-medium sized business almost every year.
Chief executive Karl-Heinz Streibich said: "We are very active in pursuing potential acquisitions and we always have a number of acquisitions on our radar screens. Whether the big one will happen this year or not, this is not predictable."
Software also aims to increase its cooperation with market leader SAG AG, after acquiring partner firm IDS Scheer a few years ago.
Rumours have circulated that the company is looking to acquire a company in Israel, after Software representatives were seen in the area.
Software AG is a market leader in the provision of business process software. It has been innovating products for more than 40 years.
