A $210 million (£129 million) deal between Skyworks and SiGe Semiconductors has been confirmed this week, following talks between the two companies.
Mobile phone chip maker Skyworks Solutions Inc, which is hoping to complete the purchase of privately-owned SiGe by June, is hoping that the deal will help boost its wireless connectivity offerings.
It is looking to increase its offerings in smartphones, tablets, gaming consoles, and notebook PCs, among other things.
The company has said that it will offer SiGe a further $65 million in the deal if certain conditions are met.
Skyworks president and chief executive David Aldrich said: "This acquisition is highly complementary in terms of our addressed markets, sales channels, process technologies, design methodologies and baseband partnerships."
Skyworks is based in Massachusetts in the US and distributes products throughout Asia, Europe and North America.
SiGe has been established in its current form since 1996. It is also based in Massachusetts, and has key operating centres in Ottawa and Hong Kong.
