MapInfo Corporation Acquires GeoBusiness Solutions Limited, A UK Leader in Retail Site Location and Customer Analytics

Acquisition Strengthens MapInfo Presence in the Predictive Analytics Market

London - 21st February 2005 - MapInfo Corporation (Nasdaq: MAPS), a leading global provider of location intelligence solutions, today announced that it has acquired privately held GeoBusiness Solutions Limited, a provider of location-based analytical and modelling services and software in the United Kingdom.

The acquisition of GeoBusiness Solutions, based in Wendover, Buckinghamshire, will strengthen the company's presence in the UK retail, leisure and property markets, enhance the range and level of analytical services that MapInfo can offer its customers and add a highly skilled team of consultants to the MapInfo predictive analytics operations in the UK.

A recognised UK leader in site location and customer analytics, GeoBusiness Solutions provides an established offering of specialist products and consultancy services, which will complement MapInfo's existing data and software products. As a result, MapInfo will be able to offer a more comprehensive analytical solution, incorporating data, software, consultancy and support, delivered locally to existing retail customers and extend the solution to other vertical markets.

Together with in-depth retail domain knowledge and an established offering of products, services and consulting expertise in retail analytics, GeoBusiness Solutions brings an impressive client base of blue chip companies. Customers include Somerfield, The Post Office, Odeon Cinemas, The Rank Group, CB Richard Ellis, HBOS plc, Camelot and TK Maxx.

David Flower, Vice President and General Manager, MapInfo EMEA commented: "The acquisition of GeoBusiness Solutions in the UK reinforces our commitment to building the MapInfo global Predictive Analytics practice, a key component of our strategy for long-term growth. The acquisition adds extensive domain expertise in location analysis for the retail sector and provides MapInfo with a platform from which to roll out Predictive Analytics services into other European countries. We plan to extend GeoBusiness Solutions's analytical service expertise to other vertical markets where MapInfo has an established presence, such as the finance and telecommunication markets."

"GeoBusiness Solutions has established a reputation in the UK retail market for the provision of accurate and predictive client specific solutions to address site location and customer analytics issues," said Andy Thompson, Managing Director of GeoBusiness Solutions. "We are delighted about becoming part of the MapInfo global Predictive Analytics team as this will facilitate our core focus of building and extending long term client relationships through innovative and world class service offerings."

GeoBusiness Solutions, which has 21 employees, will become a subsidiary of MapInfo Corporation under the direction of David Flower, Vice President and General Manager, MapInfo EMEA. The company will continue to operate from its present offices in Wendover, Buckinghamshire, UK.
