James Calvert
Managing Partner
A physics graduate with a first class honours from Imperial College, James qualified as a chartered accountant with Price Waterhouse before serving as chief financial officer within a number of large US multinational corporations, generally with financial responsibility for operations throughout Europe. Within IT, he has been Director of Finance in Data Logic and the Managing Director of Persona (later floated as ilion group plc). James joined Regent Associates in 1991. He has been responsible for several major deals including the disposal of ICL’s Medical Portfolio (UK) to Siemens Nixdorf (Germany); the acquisition by Sage (UK) of KHK (Germany): the disposal by Skillsgroup (UK) of Nordic Datadistribution (Sweden) to Atle (Sweden), the disposal of Icom (UK) to Keane (USA); the disposal of ECRC (Germany) by ICL to Cable & Wireless; and the sale of Technosys (UK) to ITNet (UK); and the sale of ICL’s spares logistics operation (UK) to 3i (UK).
In 2000, James took over responsibility for Regent’s UK operations, and in 2002 became Regent’s Chief Executive. He was appointed Managing Partner in 2012. He speaks French, German and Swedish.
