Non-Executive Director
Roberto Masiero is a Non-Executive Director of Regent and also the President of IDC EMEA. Roberto is in charge of all operations of IDC in Europe, Middle East and Africa. Furthermore he is responsible for driving the development of IDC Conference & Event Business Worldwide.
After achieving his Degree in Political Economy at the Bocconi University in Milan, Roberto attended the Advanced Financial Management Program at the Insead in Fontainebleau and at the Advanced Management Program ( AMP) at the Harvard Business School.
He started his professional career in the IT world in 1973 in Xerox, and then moved to cover a number of different positions in Marketing and Sales in Burroughs and Olivetti Computer.
From 1984 to 1986 he worked as Assistant to the Managing Director in charge of Strategies for the Olivetti Group, Elserino Piol, assisting him in the development of a number of acquisitions of International Software and Services Companies.
In 1986 Roberto joined the IDG Group and was asked to start-up IDC Italy. Subsequently he took over as Managing Director of some of the major subsidiaries of IDC in Europe ( IDC UK, IDC France and IDC Germany ). In June 1990, he was appointed President of IDC Europe, and in 1999 he took responsiblity for the whole IDC EMEA region (Europe, Middle East and Africa).
Since 1990, he has grown IDC Europe into the largest IT Market Research & Consulting company operating in the Region. Today IDC EMEA has 450 employees, with 27 Local Offices and 6 Regional Research Solution Centers.
The Company provides in depth analysis on IT Market trends to all major vendors, as well as IT Strategic Planning Consulting to Large Users, Governments and Public Authorities.
Finally, on the basis of the success achieved in Europe in the area of Conferences and Events, in 1999 Roberto was asked to manage the development of the IDC WW Conference business.
As a result, IDC is now organizing more than 300 International and Local IT Conferences, reaching 45,000 Users every year and positioning itself as the leading high-value IT Event organizer Worldwide.
